Say Goodbye to Summer
Now that summer is coming to an end and the days get shorter, Thas and I will be spending more time indoors doing our crafting. For me, the summer is my favourite time of the year followed by Autumn, and for Thas, it's the turning of the leaves that she loves. Our long walks will end soon to be replaced by the gym and some traveling, We plan to go to India and other countries to find interesting treasures to incorporate with our work, make new friends, and visit old ones. Our future plan is to put some of our creations in stores in Ottawa and surrounding area, and we have already put a bunch of our work at "A Bunch of Whimsy," in Carlton Place. Check them out on their website.
What We've Been Doing
Thas and I have been thinking about Christmas and gift-giving. While some people, like me, might be hoping for a plunge router to complement my trim router, I'm sure there are plenty of you folks who like more normal gifts, either to give or to receive. I hope what you see on our website is useful to you, and more importantly, we wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving and a joyous holiday season. On Sunday, September 28th, we took part in a flea market/garage sale and it turned out to be a great success in spite of the fact that the foot traffic was fairly sparse. We sold several macrame fans, a clock and other items. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.
October 2025
The leaves keep falling (into my power tool box, all over our terrace, and all over our car) telling us Thanksgiving is coming, soon to be followed by snow. The days are getting shorter and on November 2nd, Daylight Savings Time will come to an end and the serious holiday shopping will be upon us. (Hint, hint.) I finished the oak cutting board today--it was on our website but the legs had to be attached and a second coat of Artisan Board Oil applied. As this is being written, Thas is busy working on her macrame upstairs and every once in a while, I sneak up there to check on her progress and compliment her on her work. I asked her if she dreams about macrame in her sleep and she denied it but I think she just forgotten her dreams. As October goes on, I will be adding to the blog. Anyway, this Saturday, we'll be doing a crafts fair at the Kiwan Farm on Hunt Club Road and Hawthorne. It starts at 10 am and I believe goes on until 5 pm. Look for us there is you're looking for some cool items for your home and gift ideas by other vendors. I just hope our tent doesn't blow away.
So Saturday has come and gone and it looks like we're going to have several more days of beautiful weather. Since my woodworking is mostly done outdoors, my production will be frozen, much like most of Canada. Thas, of course, will be as busy as a one-armed juggler with her macrame and design ideas.
In the meantime, we wish you a peaceful, safe, and happy Thanksgiving. We plan to spend ours with family out of town. If you have similar plans, please drive safely.
